Fire Extinguishers

A fire extinguisher is a specialized device eventually used to control the fire. They have variation in sizes, in which some of the fire extinguishers can be carried around and functioned by the hand. Depending on the application, different types of chemicals are used in the fire extinguishers. There are different types of fire extinguishers such as Water and Foam, Carbon Dioxide, Dry Chemical, Wet Chemical, Clean agent, Dry Powder and Water mist etc.

Water extinguishers have a certain set of protocols. When they have been subjected to class ‘A’ fires, they should not be used on Class B or C fires. The main function of the foam agents is to separate the oxygen element from the other elements. A carbon dioxide fire extinguisher is a type where it can be used on both Class B and Class C fires. On the other side of the coin, it is an ineffective one on Class A fires. Wet Chemical is a new type that extinguishes the fire and it creates a barrier between the oxygen and fuel elements in order to prevent the re-ignition. Water extinguisher is most suitable for the fires involving organic solid materials such as wood, cloth, paper, plastics, and cola etc.
